Apple Rye Punch
Batch cocktails can be a nice way to serve something a little special to a group, whether it’s at a party or late in the afternoon on a winter Friday at work. This apple-rye punch was a cheery way to end the workweek before the holidays.
Mexican Martini
Like margaritas, but garnished with olives and served straight up rather than frozen or on the rocks, Mexican martinis are a quintessential part of hot Austin summers.
Peach-Lime Rickey
This light, summery cocktail of peach liqueur and lime juice is bubbly and refreshing, perfect for a summer afternoon.
Old Fashioned
A sugar cube, muddled with bitters and water and topped with rye whiskey makes for an elegant (and very strong!) cocktail.
Gin & Tonic
This light, refreshing, bubbly cocktail is a welcome addition to girls night, book club, or any hot summer evening. We always start with chilled ingredients for a frosty drink.
Watermelon Caipirinha
Guy was inspired to make these cocktails when our friends sent us home with fresh watermelon juice after this year’s Wild Game Dinner.
He muddles sugar and lime, and then adds watermelon juice and cachaça, a Brazilian spirit distilled from sugar cane.
Estridentista
This complex cocktail has ancho chile liqueur, dry vermouth, elderflower liqueur, and bitters.
Bourbon & Ginger
A very fizzy, gingery ginger ale (Whole Foods’ 365 brand has a nice one) adds a nice bite to this bourbon cocktail.
Honey Blackberry Shrub Punch
Shrubs date back to colonial times, when the acidity in the syrup served to preserve the fruit. A good shrub is both tart and sweet, stimulating the appetite while quenching thirst.
Substitute seltzer water for the bourbon for a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage. The blackberry shrub syrup base in this recipe makes a double batch.
